Nintendo unveils the 2DS Gaming console that plays 3DS games in 2D. Nintendo has unveiled the 2DS gaming console. The Nintendo 2DS is a new entry-level handheld system and is fashioned to be a more affordable entry point for the 3DS family of handhelds. Like its predecessor is a compatible device with original DS games, and offers full wireless connectivity for eShop, StreetPass and multiplayer features. WiFi can still be turned off, though it’s done via controls in the software rather than with a physical switch. At the core, it has the same hardware features as the 3DS: dual screens with the lower a touch-screen operated by additional stylus.
The 2DS will also comprise a 4GB SD card and uses the same power source as 3DS and DSi. Other features include two cameras on the back side, one speaker, which plays mono sound.
The 2DS gaming console system will launch on 12th October, the same day as Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. the system plays the entire library of packaged and downloadable games for Nintendo 3DS – only in 2D and is a slate-type form factor and will made available in Red or Blue.
The Nintendo 2DS will be available in North America with the price tag of $129.99. The 2DS will be available in Europe with the cost of £109.99 and Australia (AUD$149.95/NZD$179.95) at the same day.
The Nintendo 2DS gaming console is also aimed at children just entering the video game market, and for parents who don’t want to drop $200 on a gaming system for them.
Nintendo has also cut down the price of the Wii U Deluxe version by $50. The new suggested retail price of $299.99. The slashed price will be applied from 20th September.
