James Bound’s 007 Submarine Car sold at RM Auctions


James Bound’s 007 Submarine Car sold at RM Auctions. 007 Submarine car hits the auction in London and grossed £550,000 ($865,000). This car , which was transformed into a submarine (aka Wet Nellie) in the James Bond movie ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ was put on the RM Auctions in Battersea, south London on Monday.
The distinctively-shaped white Lotus Esprit, designed for an underwater scene in the 1977 film starring Roger Moore, is one of the most famous cars of all time. After filming it toured various car shows before being stored in New York.
It is expected to fetch between £650,000 and £950,000 when it goes under the hammer at RM Auctions.
In the film, 007 and Bond girl Anya Amasova, played by Barbara Bach, escape a helicopter attack by driving the Esprit off a pier into the sea. It is a fully operational submarine but cannot be driven on the road.
