Samsung Galaxy Star Pro and Galaxy S Duos 2 Specs, Price and Availability. Samsung has launched its latest budget friendly smartphone Galaxy Star Pro. It is the successor of the Galaxy star launched earlier this year. The Samsung Galaxy Star Pro is a dual-SIM device and runs on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system .
The smartphone features a 4 inches WVGA  display with 480x800 pixels of resolution. It is powered by a 1 GHz Cortex-A5 processor which offer fast access to application and includes a 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. The memory is expandable up to 32 GB with MicroSD card.
The other features of the Samsung Galaxy Star Pro  are a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1500mAh battery. The battery offers 15 hours of talk time and up to 370 hours of standby time. There is also no front-facing camera. It also comes with some preloaded apps including Samsung Apps, ChatON, mFluent IM and ActiveSync. In terms of connectivity it includes a Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and microUSB 2.0. It is 10.6mm thick and weight is 121g.
Already available  in India with the price tag of 6,750 the Galaxy Star Pro will be  launched in Pakistan in collaboration with Mobilink, one of the country’s leading cellular operators. It will be available for purchase with the cost of PKR, 13,000 with Mobilink’s 2GB unlimited data package.

Samsung has released another budget friendly dual-SIM handset called the Galaxy S Duos 2. It also has stunning features and offers two SIMs active at the same time. The Galaxy S Duos 2 features a 4 inches WVGA TFT display with  480x800 pixels of resolution and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor.


It runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. It includes a 768 MB RAM and 4 GB inbuilt storage that is expandable up to 64 GB via microSD card. The Galaxy S Duos 2 also features a 5 megapixel rear facing camera with LED flash that is capable of 720p video recording , and a front facing VGA camera for video calling. There is a 1500mAh battery  which delivers up to 8 hours of talk time and up to 280 hours of standby time.
In terms of connectivity it includes a Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, EDGE, GPRS and 3G.  The dimension of the Galaxy S Duos 2 are  121.5x63.1x10.57mm, and weighs 118 grams.
Already available in India with the price tag of Rs. 10,999 the Galaxy S Duos 2 will retail in Pakistan in White  and Black color versions in Rs. 20,000 and in the US in $175.

Govt decides to launch fingerprint verification for buying SIMs

Govt decides to launch fingerprint verification for buying SIMs.The government has decided to launch fingerprint verification system for the issuance of cellular SIMs. Currently, the government is addressing with the  unofficial or unregistered SIMs issue and had previously blocked thousands on illegal SIMs.  Pakistan is facing a grave war and terror situation and government is of the view that the illegal SIMs are the biggest cause of bloodshed and terrorist activities in the country.Pervez Rashid,  Information Minister, said that the cellular operators in the country are equally responsible for the bloodshed being carried out in the country through bomb blasts.

Therefore, the government decided to introduce the fingerprint verification system for the issuance of the mobile phone SIMs.
In this regard a meeting of the Standing Committee on Interior Affairs was held under the leadership of Senator Talha Mehmood on Wednesday. During the meeting the information minister said that cellular companies are equally responsible critical condition in the country and the CEO of the company should be arrested and bring under the anti-terrorism laws if his company’s SIMs are used for terrorist activities.
The voters’ data list were being used for the purchasing illegal SIM, director General of NDRA told to the committee. He was of the view that for the issuance of new SIMs the fingerprints of the consumers would be taken and compare with the data of NDRA. On the other hand the Director General National Crisis Management told the meeting that lots of cell phones were being used without IMEI number in the country.
The Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan were not present in the meeting. The committee chairman expressed anger over his absence and said the minister never bothered to attend the meeting since he took oath of his office.

Breaking News: PTA directs cellular operators to halt All Voice and SMS bundles



Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has directed all the cellular operators in Pakistan to halt all the Voice and SMS bundles that are being offered to their subscribers. PTA took this decision by keeping in view the moral values of society. Currently, the cellular companies are offering daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly packages and according to PTA directives the telecom operators have to submit a compliance report to the authority by 2ndSeptember, 2013.

The letter from reads “Directive Relating to Packages Offered by CMTOs Contrary to Moral Values of Society” reasons a survey conducted in November 2012 which suggested PTA that voice and SMS bundles were still active.
The new directive is, “All cellular mobile operators are hereby once again directed to immediately stop all kinds of chat packages (Voice and SMS) irrespective of time of the day”
Analysts say currently the industry is derived by these voice and SMS bundles. If not reversed, the whole dynamics of telecom industry of Pakistan will change.
The decision of the PTA is no doubt a Decision a nightmare for the users and now they have to pay for each call and each SMS.
