“LOCATIONARY” A NEW ADDITION TO APPLE’S APPLICATIONS

Apple-mapsApple has confirmed a deal according to which Apple will buy “locationary” in order to boost its mapping services. The locationary’s technology, guarantees an improved service for search and map-reading for mobile apps plus increasing the performance in advertising and commerce.

According to Kristin Huguet, Apple’s spokes person, Apple buys smaller technology companies oftenly and they do not discuss their purpose. Financial terms of the deal have also not been disclosed. Last year Apple launched its map service in order to
replace or completely remove Google’s service on its mobiles, but that turned out to be a drastic flop. It seemed that this idea was not worked out properly as not only the directions tolocations were incomplete but the buildings and monuments were actually out of place. As well as there was no information about public transport. Public response toward such a failure was naturally so bad that CEO, Tim Cook was compelled to issue an apology.
Reports say that Google has approved to buy Waze, a mapping set-up, and the deal is expected to be valued at $ 1 billion. Brian Proffit, an instructor at the university of Notre Dame, said that improved local business data will be a great addition to Apple’s map application.  read  more
