Folk singer Reshma passed away due to Prolonged illness



Folk singer Reshma passed away due to Prolonged illness. There is a sad news for the fans of Legendary Folk Singer Reshma passed away today, Sunday, in Lahore. She died due to prolonged illness of throat cancer. the hospital sources confirmed her death. She was suffering from throat cancer and was in coma for over a month. She was diagnosed with cancer in 1980s  and Former president Pervez Musharraf gave her one million rupees for treatment. According to the early details her funeral prayers will be held today. She left to mourn a son Umair and daughter Khadija.Reshma was born in 1947 in Bikaner in India’s Rajasthan state and belonged to the Banjara family. Her family migrated to Karachi after partition.
She started her singing career at the age of 12 from Television and Radio channel. The renowned producer spotted this alluring voice at the Shahbaz Qalander's shrine and he arranged for her to record "Laal Meri" on Pakistan radio. She got instant popularity. The tremendous hit of Reshma is “Lambi Judai”. She had recorded lots of successful hits for both Pakistani and Indian film industry.

 Some of her famous songs include “Dama Dam Mast Kalandar”, “Hai O Rabba nahion lagda dil mera”, “Sun charkhe di mithi mithi cook mahiya meinu yaad aunda”, “Wey main chori chori”, “Ankhiyan no rehen de ankhyan de kol kol” and “Lambi Judai”. Government of Pakistan had awarded her with Sitara-i-Imtiaz for her achievements in folk music.
